cpu making squeaking noises!

cpu seems to make a squeaking noise when it's under load. when it's not underload it still makes squeaking noises, just intermittently like a cricket.

any fixes??

Have you consider that it can be the CPU fan and it need to be cleaned?

The cpu can't make "weird" noise. Look elsware for the problem.....

Have you opened up your computer and determined the sound is coming from the CPU area? If you haven't, it could be the hard drive. If you know its coming from the CPU region, it has to be the heatsink's fan making the noise; the CPU emits no noise itself.

You guys are all wrong it is bugs in the core. You need to take the processor out and then hit it with a hammer repeatedly to release the bugs, it will stop squeaking.

actually, i think it is probably the hard drive.

are there ways to fix squeaky a squeaky cpu fan or hard drive?

clean or replace the fans. replace the HD if it is squeaky. I bet a shiny nickel it is the fans though...

I got the exact same problem and it's one of my hard drives (WD250gig something). It sounds exactly like a distant cricket. So much so that at first I sprayed my yard with bug killer.

it might be the capacitors that provide the power

i know in splintercell that my 6800GT makes wierd squeaky noises when not using night vision, no i dea why, but its probably capacitors or something

Like everyone said cpu makes no noise. However u should check if your hard drive light (normally red) comes on when squeaking starts. I bet its the hard drive.

I have an old IBM deskstar 30gig hard disk and it occassionally squeaks. Especially during games where the is a lot of virtual memory swapping. If u have dropped your hard drive or knocked it a bit, it may be very slightly damaged. It appears fine, your comp runs but it squeaks. Try and run scandisk to find bad sectors. I think if it finds bad sectors it marks that block unusable so it wont try and read from there.

If u have spare hard disk around swap it with your present hard disk. See if squeaking stops.

Check the fans, HDDs, and floppy drives for noise. ..basically anything inside the PC that rotates.
