Ok so I have been noticing after prolonged computer use my comp begins to slow down.... I have an E8500, After about 3 hours of playing COD 5 the frames may begin to drop alittle and when I close the game the computer is running just a tick slower....I began to note this an then decided to inspect using 3dmark scores to figure out just what was going on....The worst I noticed was with my 4870 HD 1gb the 3dmark went from 15000 to 12300... Figured my PSU was too small and couldnt support the GPU so I pulled it out and put back in my old 8800. I gamed the same amount of time and low and behold I noticed it again

This time I noticed the GPU didnt drop but the CPU score went from 3300 to 2700...
Rebooted the comp and instantly ran another test and the scores were perfect....Now this is becoming a pattern, after long gaming the CPU score falls and upon just one reboot its back to its old self....If its a software issue maybe reformatting the harddrive is the answer, I have ran both norton and AVG and neither found any viruses. A couple Ideas

Damaged PSU, I have a 500w antec Earthwatt, recently I did have a 4870 fry out on my during gameplay, im not sure if that could in turn damage the PSU???

Damaged MOBO??-not sure how this would equate but I am unable to find the source of the cpu loss

One thing I did note is when the computer begins to slow down, the cpu gauge in the tast manager begins to move rather sporatically, it will bounce around from 2% to 15% up and down though running no applications.....

BTW I noted temps during this occurence and they were fine, nothing to report. This mainly began happening one day before the computer fried the 4870. The night I had the 2000 point loss in 3dmark was the last night the 4870 was alive....
