cpu load constantly at 35%+ due to interrupts?

Over the past few weeks or so I'd noticed that my cpu usage was abnormally high, mostly when using firefox. I'd noticed that my cpu would hit 99% when loading most any website, and depending on how many tabs i had open, i'd idle at 40%+, sometimes as much as 60%. Makes things kinda tough. I checked process explorer, and it said that my idle cpu was mostly being taken up by interrupts (30-40% of cpu at all times basically). What does this mean? My CPU is an AMD64 3000, so I can't imagine my hardware is all of a sudden insufficient. Is this a firefox problem or something else? Hardware bad? Virus? I check for those regularly and seem to be clean. I can give more info about whatever if need be.
