CPU lagging and become little less responsive

Hi,

I have a P7P55D Asus Mobo which i currently run with a Core i5 750 CPU. Recently ive started to get hiccups with the PC and it doesnt seem to run as smooth as before.

It seems to lag a bit even with general applications like browsing websites on chrome, loading apps, windows explorer, loading of pictures, etc. All this even after a fresh install of windows. I was using W7 earlier and now i installed W8 as a fresh install. Not an upgrade.

It seems a quite a bit laggy when it comes to responsiveness basically. I just replaced my HDD for a new one as it was dying. The old HDD is not connected right now. I also added another 4 GB ram to my system.

Hence i think my CPU might be an issue and is there anyway to find out if the CPU is causing these hiccups and lag in responsiveness?

CPU temps seem to be fine.

I just bought a new HDD so did a fresh install of Windows 8 on it.

Hey,

That seemed to have fixed it! Thanks!

Does a 2x2 & 1x4 GB ram not work together?

Thats why i made it a point to buy the same brand and series of ram with the same timings.

It should but if you check the manufacturer's site they never recommend this.It can cause system instability.Always try to pair identical ram sticks with same density and timings.
