CPU Lag from keystrokes

Ok, so heres the original thread I had posted so you know the background:

Ok, here are my specs:

FX-51
Asus SK8V
1 gig Corsair 3200 XMS
ATI 9800XT
Win XP pro

I'm a big Final Fantasy 11 Player, I built this machine for this game, a few months back, and everything has worked fine up until a week or so ago. I noticed in game I would press down the 'E' key to walk forward, and I would start to walk forward then a half second later the game freezes...wierd...kept fooling around with it, if I hold down any key for that matter, 'e' 'esc' '8' etc, any key will lag the game up, I even held down a key for about 40 second, let go, and I had a little "disconnect" symbol next to my name in game meaning I was having network connection issues. I have run adaware/spybot/panda titanium 7. I figured I'd see if it were just this game or not, so I installed Tribes 2, same deal, hold down a key and it lags, however If Im holding down the key, and press another key while still holding the first one, the lag stops...Then, I tired another test in windows, I use Mozilla for my browser, and to the right of the URL box, theres the little "M" that turns into a changing picture of a Dino when a page is loading, in IE its the little Windows flag that waves....anyhow, I wanted to see if I could "lag" windows up by holding a key, so I used Mozilla to test it. I entered a url in the box, hit enter, and quickly clicked off the text box so I wouldn't be typing stuff, and quickly pressed a key (anykey, once again), doing this would "lag" the animation of the little transforuming Dino picture to the right of the URL box, however it does NOT lag up the screen, pages still load and everything, just the little picture of the dino that changes while a page is loading freezes up. I appologize if this was a little hard to understand.

Anyhow, this has led me to believe my ps/2 port is screwed up, I have checked it to make sure no pins broke off in there or anything, all is well on both my keyboard connection, and the port on the mobo. Any ideas? Unfortunately I don't have any USB keyboards laying around so I have a ps2/USB adapter coming to me, but this is just really upsetting me...I can't play games...and it even effects windows. I've also flashed my BIOS to the newest update and still nothing. All your help is GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Anyhow, heres how I stand now: I'm positive it's not a trojan or virii now, and it's not the ps/2 port. Today I got my Belkin ps/2 to USB adapter in the mail, popped it on, and the same problem was there. I opened my keyboard properties for the 100th time, repeat rate and repeat delay both set in the middle. I opened up Task Manager to the performance tab, and kept an eye on my CPU Usage, I held down any random key and BAM! CPU Usage shot up to 30...50...75...95%!!!!!! Im thinking wow, my god, what in the heck is going on here. I lowered the keyboard properties Repeat Rate and Repeat Delay all the way down to the lowest settings, applied the changes, watched the performance tab, held down a key and CPU Usage only went up to 12% that time.....Now...I ask you...What does this say to you really technical people? Any suggestions? Im monitoring the performance tab right now as I type this, and I type at a pretty decent click. With the keyboard properties still turned all the way down, if I hold down a key like I said it only goes up to about 12% CPU Usage, however as I type this it keeps jumping anywhere from 25% Usage when Im typing more slowly, to upwards of 55% or more when Im typing at my fastest. Nothing else seems to be spiking however, just the CPU Usage.....So, lets here what you have to say...Thanks a ton in advance, Im also in contact with Asus, however I figured I'd see what you all think about this.

Its probably hardware related if you have not added any software recently or switched around any pci cards on your motherboard. First thing you have to check is obviously your keyboard, which means borrowing any keyboard or even buying one for $10. Since you bought the adaptor for the ps2 to usb, and same problem exists, it's not your ps2 ports. 99% says your keyboard was hit or dropped or thrown against the wall once too many times.

Oh I like to memtion that punching LCD monitors with your fist will hurt you much more than the monitor, they make these things really tough

LOL, a different keyboard was the first thing I tried, it was a perfectly working ps/2 keyboard, and the problem was still here, so it's not that. Be careful, try not to punch your monitor, at least if you dmg prt ofyour keyboard you can still type a few letters, instead of just not being able to use the computer because you broke your monitor. Looks like it's time for me to start burning my stuff to CD's and reformat...ugh...

Oh ok, I didn't read about you trying another keyboard but something had to be loaded or changed on you computer for this problem to appear. Do you back up your main drive? I use Acronis Trueimage 7 to backup my main drive, the image is known to be problem free, so when I add anything to my computer or even those dam automatic downloads or even a virus, and I can figure out what is causing the problem, I restore the backup image and everything works fine like before. If it doesn't, it probably is hardware and I go about finding which one is causing problems.

Making a good backup have saved me whole lot of time and frustration in trying to diagnose problems.
Good luck, and I hope the reformat works for you.
