Does the AMD Duron support L2 cache ECC checking? On an older computer I worked on, I cracked one side of the core, but it still booted up! But it wasn't the most stable computer after that incident. I'm thinking something on the chip is causing errors, the motherboard supports L2 cache ECC checking, so I thought that would help. But while reading on the net, some page said certain CPU's support L2 cache ECC checking.

Yes, CPUs have implemented ECC in their caches for at least a decade. It is enabled by default. I don't think your Duron will be helped by ECC though.

If you're getting errors requiring ECC in your L2, you probably baked your chip. It's better not to incur the slight performance hit and just disable the ECC.
