Okay, I have a Intel Centrino CPU thats 1.7 ghz and I'm running Vista Home Premium OS. Anyway, my CPU speed is at 800 MHZ for some reason and I want to raise it, how do I do that? I went to BIOS and nothing, but I know there is a program somewhere, what program can I use for this? Thanks.

sounds like speedstep is kicking in..It's normal, when you put the CPU under load it will increase it's speed...it's throttling back to save power (I am assuming you are using a Laptop).

what windows are you using, you should be able to setup a power profile that allows the CPU to run at maximum speed all the time...other than that you could try looking in the BIOS to find the Speedstep option and disable it.

use the 'max performance' option in the windows power management. Don't be suprised if it doesn't help performance much, speedstep is very good and bypassing it won't make a huge difference.

So basically there is no way to raise my speed? I tried "Max performance" and like you said, it didnt do anything. I mean I dont get it, just because of the speeds, I cant game cause it lags, what can I do?

Your cpu speed is increasing under load.

You are lagging in gaming because of a 1.7 ghz processor, windows vista, not enough ram, and numerous other problems.

1.7 ghz laptops are not made for gaming.
