It has been shutting off on its own occasionally and I wondered if it was overheating...don't remember what a extreme high temperature is anymore...your thoughts? Its an older AMD processor.

Or about 58 degrees celsius...I'm wondering if it is the power supply if it isn't overheating. It just shuts off without any notice.

Thanks for reading

Depends on the processor. 58 degrees is fairly warm for most processors, but probably still
within tolerances. Try a different PSU first, but it wouldn't hurt to find a better cooler.

EDIT:
Ditto PurdueRy, about load temps, can you give more info on your usage?

58C ? That's about 136F.

That seems a bit high to me, but it may be in tolerance (not sure what you have).

I'd still look into the Fan/Heatsink on your CPU. It might just be clogged up with dust, or if it's a rebuild you may need to redo the Heatsink and Thermal compound.

we are not mind readers. when you say older amd is it a skt940, 939, 754, barton core xp, tbird xp, regular athlon?? all of these would be considered older amd products.

my tbird xp2000 runs at 60C not much load all the time (at least that is what is being reported to mbm) but it is rock stable, so who knows what your issue is, we need more info from you.
