CPU install guides?

Hi,
I'm building a system and I'm putting an XP 1700+ retail processor in it.
Now don't laugh, but this is my first time actually installing a cpu.
Can someone point me to some XP Processor installation guides or give me some tips. I'm sure the manual that comes with it will tell me how to do it, but I'm nervous anyway. I hear people say you can break the cpu's if you press too hard to snap them in. That you can crack and burn them out in a second if you place the heatsink/fan wrong.

I'd hate to ruin this, because it's my birthday present. :(

This explains it some.

Good luck on your first installation, just make sure the power is either off at power strip or unpluged from the wall(just make sure a bump doesn't cut it on).
Also don't cut your computer on without the hs installed, and if anything does happen bad don't use water. ;)

Since you have the retail, you dont have to worry about applying ASII (thermal paste) on the CPU.

Ok take out your motherboard and cpu (if you have installed it already or are upgrading)

Look on the CPU's 4 corners. One should have a Gold triangle on one of the corners. Now look on the socket. There should be a tringle or something of the sort. Lift the "Arm" of the socket up, and place the CPU on it. It should slide right in, and you know you did it right. Then close the arm.

THE HARD PART

*Be VERY Careful*

Look on the bottom of the heatsink. There should be a part that goes down farther than the other part. The lowest part goes on the CPU, and the shorter part goes on the "Rectangle " part of the Socket. Gently place the Heatsink on top of the processor.

Now place the clip on the side with of the socket farthest away from the "Rectangle".

*DONT SCREW UP*

Now take a screwdriver, and use some torque to clip the other side. Be sure NOT TO SLIP, as you might damage many components.

Now make sure that the heatsink is making good contact with the CPU core (actually bend over to look) and DONT PUSH DOWN ON IT!!!

Install the motherboard into the case.

Fire it up and if you don't smell that nasty electrical burning smell, you did it!

Thanks, for the replies.
I'm waiting for the processor to be delivered from newegg right now, then I'll give it a go.
