Hey all,

(Post has been changed to reflect the update)

I've got a weird choice between two HSFs for a rig I'm bulding(Options are VERY limited where I live).

The first would be this cooler made by gigabyte -

http://www.newegg.com/app/view...=35-128-002&depa=0

and the second is of using the heatsink that comes with the Thermaltake Silent Boost K8

combined with an 80 mm Vantec Tornado(I'm assuming I can install the tornado instead of the fan that comes with it, correct?.)

What would you guys go for. These are the only things I can get over here, no XP-120s and the like. I'm not sure which one would be better. Right now I'm leaning towards the second option. Thanks for the help.

NOTE: Blaines reply about the nasty heatsink was made in regards to an option that I edited out of this post, as he has turned me against it (thanks, heh).

Edit: If it matters these are the specs of my system

Case : http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/lanmoto/bwa.htm (Ugly front, but I'll mess around with that, like i said, options are very limited here)
MOBO : MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum
Processor : AMD64 3200 winchester
VGA: 6800 GT
RAM: 3500 EB OCZ 2*512
HD: 74 GB Raptor

The second cooler is way too nasty looking to pick over the Gigabyte option... WAY TOO NASTY :disgust:

If you could run some type of flexible hose from your side fan down to the intake on the Gigabyte HS, you'd have a killer combo there. ;)
If it were me, I'd remove the side fan all together and install a fresh air duct down to the Gigabyte intake. Having the extra side fan in the loop may cause some problems. Not to mention being just that much louder.

Ok, so the gigabyte wwould be the better of those two options. However, I just found another heatsinik I can use, the Thermaltake Silent Boost K8. I can take off the fan that comes with it and install my 80mm tornado, What do you guys think of that as an option? This is what I'm leaning toward now.

Recap

Options now are gigabyte cooler

and the Thermaltake Silent Boost K8 using a vantec tornado instead of the fan that comes with it

Hopefully you guys can help me decide today, so I can start building, heh.

Edit: I've changed the original post to so that people just coming into the thread won't reply to it without knowing I've already decided against the generic heatsink option. By the way, sound isn't an issue to me at all.

You can duct the GT because it pulls air in from the top. But as Gunbuster says... there's no ducting the Pro version.
I'd still go with the GT version to grab some fresh air from outside the case. :p
