hi. i currently have a coolermaster hyper 6+ on my rig but im really thinking about changing it out. could anyone answer some of my questions.

1. should i even get rid of it? would i get a better cooling drop or will it stay the same?

2. what is better si-120 or xp-120. i have been reading all the threads here and all i get is mixed thoughts.

3. if i do chose to use a xp-120 will it fit on my asus a8n sli premium board while using corsair xms3200c2pro? has anyone tried?

the main reason why i want to get rid of the hpyer 6+ is because the thing is just to damn huge. i had to mod the fan door on my thermaltake xaser V case just so i could put the door back on. its doing a really good job keeping my x2 3800 @ 2.6 50C max load. but like i said just to big, but i dont want to lose cooling. please help

SI-120 is better. Also easier to install than the XP-120. The only board the SI-120 has trouble fitting in in a giga-byte, so your asus will have no problems. The SI-120 performed silightly better than the XP-120 i think, and better than the Zalman.

I take that back, I was think of the SI-120vsXP-90.
There the SI-120 wins, I'm not sure about the XP-120 as I have not seen anything comparing the 2.

The gigabyte has no problems installing. Just need a new backplate for the support. But ya the SI-120 is a great heatsink. Im looking into buying 1 for Boxing Day.

You could go a number of differnt ways really:
1.)SI-120 Probably your best bet, easy to install and has excellent cooling.
2.)Zalman 9500- Looks cool right? Not really worth it in my opinion.
3.)Thermaltake BIG TYPHOON- Cools great, but is a pain in the ass to install.

Just go for the SI-120 and a good 120mm fan. Then you will be happy.

Compared to your current cooler, as long as it has a good fan, I don't really see a need to upgade yet.

Now that I have read your entire post and find out that it is too big, go for the SI-120, you will be happy then, no more door modding too hopfully!
