CPU Heasink Removal

Just got a water block for the CPU, how should I remove the current heatsink? It has some gray insulation that will have caked the contact portion of the CPU - do I remove this?

The waterblock is the Koolance CPU-300-H06.

use isopropyl alcohol (may be incorrect speelling). I think it's the same thing as rubbing alcohol.
