CPU/GPU stress testing?

Since I need to learn about various OSs for my major, I've just installed Ubuntu on my new computer as I wait to receive a Windows DVD (though I had planned to dual-boot from the start). Since this computer is newly built, I need a way of stress-testing it. Any programs that can reliably test Haswell (4670k) and my HD 7950?

Hm. I've heard that Prime95 has problems with Haswell. Also, I'm having serious issues trying to install it lol

Odd. And I have never heard of P95 having issues with Haswell? Jodell's wiki page showed mprime which I believe is the command line version of Prime95.

Yeah. Haswell throttles instead of crashing, so it can't test stability too well. I guess that doesn't matter quite yet though.

Well that's not really a bad think imo. If you see it's throttling, that means it's getting to hot and you just need to dial down the voltage/clocks.

I guess.

Doesn't matter either way when I can't install anything though. >_> Do I need to take some kind of class for this? I'm following instructions exactly and still can't get things to work, so I can only guess that they assume prior knowledge

How are you trying to install the programs? You should be using Ubuntu Software Center or Synaptic.
