Even if performance is dismal, I think this is the future for both companies.

AMD has the advantage due to ATi, but I just hope the company can survive until it happens.

The huge problem with this is that most people will upgrade their videocard multiple times in the same rig, so this just bumps the cost for a gpu upgrade that much more. Not to mention the issues of memory latency that you need to solve before a cpu/gpu combo will be truly effective.

Like I said before, all this will achieve is putting GMA onto the CPU instead of having it on the motherboard.

Maybe for people who post here, but I don't think that applies to the majority of consumers.

They might also be able to put the built in GPU to other uses so even if you add a video card it doesn't go to waste, perhaps something like improved physics calculations.

Yep, but it should perform slightly better. Not bad for notebooks... Even though integrated graphics are really crappy, anything helps.
