CPU going bad??

Have a ECS K7AMA running a Duron 800. Been trying to get it set up but keep getting R/W error when running powermax on my Maxtor drive.Got blue screens on Win 98. Ran a test on the ram and it came up ok. Disabled L2 and same result. A teck guy said something about possibly a bad processor.
Any ideas?
 
May want to check into heat or power problems, If you have gotten windows to boot then the cpu is ok, CPU's ether hit or miss, Work or dont, Yes yes I know that there can be that 1 that does acteuly have a passable/intermitten problem but very rare.
