Well in late December I installed a third harddrive, and that resulted in my motherboard dying and taking my old graphics card with it. The graphics card was a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, and the motherboard was a GIGABYTE GA-K8NSNXP-939. I then replaced both with my current GIGABYTE GA-K8U-939 and 6800XT. It took me awhile to troubleshoot what was wrong so I switched motherboards a couple times, had to remove and re add thermal paste a couple times and i dropped the processor on the motherboard once.

Now after i got the system up and running again I started playing games. At first i only installed and played Warcraft 3 and Counter-strike. No problems. Then I started installing more games where I started having problems. In guild wars when the game starts it goes to a black screen where i can only hear music and see my mouse. I used to be able to run this game with no problems. On Dungeons and Dragons online I could run the game but I could not see characters. When I installed War Hammer 40k I could not see the intro video and when i got to the main menu, i couldn't see any of the buttons, just a couple incomplete textures. I used to be able to play this game with no problems too. I installed Unreal Tournament 2004 and could not run that game either. I got a black screen where when it got to the main menu. On EVE online, when the login pop up screen came up, i couldnt see anything but the background again. I installed rakion 2 days ago and same thing, the main menu is black, i can click stuff, i can hear music and menu and i can even see outlines in that game but its still all black. However, I installed Doom 3 and that worked like a charm.

I got some support from the Guild wars tech staff but they didn't help much. I ran a couple benchmarks, such as aquamark 3 where everything looked good but I got really really low FPS, like between 2-5 FPS. My Scores were as followed.

GFX score: 5001
CPU score: 161
AquaMark score: 3015

I've tried using to different drivers, both doing the same. I used NGO NVIDIA Optimized Driver 2.9792 (http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=F...&dwn_cat_id=10) and right now im currently using ForceWare 93.71 drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html).

My powersupply is a 520W Aspire/Apevia PSU. Yea I know, its a sketchy PSU, but I didnt know alot about PSUs (i still don't...)when I bought the system and the reviews on newegg were pretty good, plus it was pretty damn cheap so i picked it up. It has been a pretty good PSU so far though, over 2 years and it hasn't given me any issues.

I was thinking software issue but I cant figure out what it could be. When Doom 3 ran really good, and worked perfectly is when i suspected something in common, maybe software wise between the games I couldn't run but I couldn't find anything. If someone else could try to find something in common with the game i couldn't run, that would be great.

Now, is this issue a CPU problem, GFX card problem, power supply problem, or maybe even a software related problem? I can't really tell, since some games run perfect, and others dont where I get extreme and unique problems.

Help me please, im stumped.
