I have an HP dv6z with an AMD 2.2Ghz ZM-82 (65nm, 35W TDP) processor and an ATI 4650 graphics card. speedfan tells me the processor ("core") is getting to 90C very easily when playing HD videos, and sure enough when I checked cpu-z, the processor is being throttled to 1.1Ghz. Even at idle (~70C!!!!), the CPU stays at 1.1Ghz (I open up itunes or something after idling for a while to make sure the processor isn't slowing down to save power instead of throttling due to high temp). I think there might be dust building up(this computer is only a few months old... =[...) what should i do? I started getting annoyed because I couldn't play back 1080p video smoothly (720p works fine) and I'm pretty sure it's because the processor is throttling. i've owned 5 laptops my life, all of them have problems because dust builds up and it overheats. A toshiba laptop i had allowed easy access to the heatsink and processor, but the past few HPs require me to take apart the entire laptop (which i tried once and failed). in general, how do you guys keep your laptop dust free? im getting very frustrated, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
