ep35-ds3l is my board. Im running an E8500, There is auto overclocking features to like 17 percent i believe. is this the way to go? My ram clock is set to 800mhz but i have ddr2 1000, pc28000 2x2gb. My processor clock is showing 2.16 in the bios, but shouldn't it be 3.16? I had to turn off the auto manage cpu fan speed because it was setting it to about 1200rpm's and my cpu was idling at 49C with artic silver on and stock heat sink fan. I disabled it and now i idle at 42C and run the fan at 1700rpm's

I bassicly want to know what the best route to overclocking and making sure my settings are correct and that im getting full performance out of my build.

Im running Intel E8500
Corsair 550W psu
Antec 900
4gb of DDR2 1000
Gigabyte GA-ep35-ds3l
HD4850

Take everything off auto..Change everything manually its just safer and allows you the user to have control..All you really need to do is chance the fsb from what ever it was to something slightly higher.. then test it to be stable.. and repeat. If your having temp issues..it might be the case not having good airflow from cables being in the way. We basically have the same setup and im running 30C idle and 39-42C under 100% load. I reccomend reading graysky's OC guide to really get into details..It is really worth it though.

As far as RAM goes..link it by 1:2 and it should be fine.. You will end up going over 800mhz but its fine because that ram will OC well and the cpu won't hold it back. Post back with extra issues.
