CPU Frequency problems with Asus P3V4X?

When I put in some new ram, I now get intermittent crashes in IE where I have to do a full reboot. The power button doesn't even work. Yeah, I tried putting in the old ram. I guess the crashes were there before, but I blamed it on Micro$ponge software. Sometimes I get a message upon POST where there were problems with the processor frequency but I don't overclock.
Tried putting in the old bios defaults, didn't do anything. Going to try wiping out all the partitions and re-install everything.
