I'm doing a HTPC build with a ECS H61H2-I v1.1 LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI Mini ITX Intel Motherboard that was 36.00 at the Egg.

I was thinking that Intel had fixed the 23.976 Hz video output bug in Ivy Bridge, but apparently it's better, but not fixed. This build is not for me, so I'm trying to make sure it will be perfect for what he wants which is streaming media, bluray, general use, but no gaming.

I could go to an old Sandy Bridge CPU, or a Ivy Bridge CPU. I don't want to use a a video card, and probably will drop a tuner in the PCI-E slot.

I saw the Intel Celeron G1620 2.7GHz LGA 1155 for 35.00 that has the Intel HD graphics. Is this OK for what I want to do? Normally, I would pick a CPU with the HD 4000 graphics.

I would get an Ivy Bridge if you can- it is much more energy efficient, which helps a lot for an ITX build.

I would consider a USB tv tuner, leaving the slot free for a video card if you want.

he already has a nice tuner to drop in, and since gaming is not a requirement, I really wanted to go with CPU graphics that handles bluray correctly

then you want a haswell. neither ivy nor sandy do it properly.

but, can you really tell a dropped frame every 4 minutes?

yeah, I read that earlier today about Haswell. I have to go with the ECS board since we have that here already, so it has to be Ivy or Sandy. I kinda doubt if he would notice a dropped frame every 4 minutes.

saw these at MC:

Intel Pentium G2030 3.0GHz LGA 1155 50.00, ivy bridge bigger level 3 cache than the G1620

Intel Celeron G1620 2.7GHz LGA 1155, 35.00, ivy bridge,

iirc video playback is hardware accelerated so it really doesn't matter which configuration the cores/mhz is.

I've got the same ECS motherboard, and I threw a G1610 into it. Was having appcrashes with Waterfox 29.0 and Flash Player, seems to have gone away when I upgraded to Waterfox 30.0.

I hate it when this happens. I had no desire for an ITX build for myself, then I saw the IN WIN 901 Mini-ITX Aluminum and Glass Case..What a beauty. I have no need for this..must control...must control..someone help me control....
