CPU for EA fifa 16

I been on xbox 360 but for fifa 16 I was hoping to upgrade my old computer to something of a gaming machine. I mentioned Fifa since is this what I play for 80% of my gaming time and GTA and other titles for rest of 20%.
I have ECS H61H2-M10 at present with a celeron 1.8

I am obviously tight on budget

EA recommends a i5-2550K ( which would fit in my existing mobo ) but costs a fortune here even for this 2nd generation cpu.

I need recommendation a better option if any, if its INTEL then I prefer not to change my mobo. If its a AMD ( FX I guess ) then suggest a good mobo too.
GPU is not an issue as I will most likely go for a radeon r7 or r9 to fit the need for fifa 16

You are old and weak processor.

FIFA needs to run at least one processor is Corei3 And Suitable graphics card .

My suggestion to you : Corei3 4170

No, you don't. That chip wouldn't work in that board. I suggest you start by getting CPU-Z and telling us what CPU you really have.

If you really do have that board, there are a number of chips you could get. It seems ECS doesn't support 95W chips - bad board! But if you update the board's BIOS it will support 77W Ivy Bridge chips, which are better.

Among Ivy Bridge chips, any Intel "i5" or "i7" chip with a number between "3550" and "3770", having either no letters after it or a "K", should meet the recommended specs.

GPU is not an issue as I will most likely go for a radeon r7 or r9 to fit the need for fifa 16

Actually, it's a big issue. I would try not to go lower than an r7 260X, or r7 370, or GTX 750 on the Nvidia side. What's your power supply? Only the GTX 750 or 750ti will work with the lowest-end power supplies.

That chip is rare, and probably expensive used because it can overclock a little higher than other i5's. Plus it won't work in the OP's board anyway. Non-overclocking Ivy Bridge i5's should be cheaper. If not cheap enough we can look at i3's.

I think that's what it is, since its irrelevant I didn't bother. Mobo is ECS for sure since I have its box and I moved it from old case to a new cooler master had xb evo, which I plan to use for long time to come.

Sorry yes its i5 2550k as per ea recommended config. My ecs mobo is 1155 socket with h61 chipset, can support 3rd Gen i3-5-7.

All are above the minimum spec for the game.

FIFA for PC has been incredibly unoptimized for years, it takes a fairly bit of beefy hardware to play smoothly (mostly GPU and RAM), funny that PES doesn't- runs nicely on my crummy laptop.

Thank you for everyone's feedback, to summarize I need to do the following ( max saving ):

BIOS update to support ivory series
Look for good deal on a new or used 3rd gen cpu i7>5>3.

You already have an Intel motherboard which supports CPUs faster than anything AMD make. There's no point switching to AMD, it will cost you more.

AMD is in flux right now.

Socket AM3+ is a dead end, and AMD has not brought out the new chips yet, or even said much about them.

Socket FM2+ is also a dead end, and the Kaveri chips offer nothing over the 1155 i3/i5/i7, unless you are not using a graphics card.

So, there is nothing from AMD to recommend, imo.

The only thing that makes sense for you is to drop in another Intel 1155 chip, imo.

Recommend isn't the same as minimum, you probably exceed minimum but in that video you said you have a GTX960 so that CPU becomes irrelevant in many games although I saw some slowdowns and drops to mid 30's

I saw your MGS5 video before that one, plays very well on that processor.

Maybe its a first generation Phenom?I have a old 780g motherboard sitting about with a X4 9150e in it.It's pretty much a 1.8Ghz 65w quad core.

Those old Phenoms are dreadfully bad but they work better off then dual cores anyways now.

Side question what about xenons? They seem cheap.

Almost all Xeons that fit that board are 95 watt.. The E3 1220l is only 2 cores.

This built is fifa 16 or 17 game only built so I don't know if cores matter or not once a powerful gpu takes over. Well you guys know better.
