For a Non-Gamernon-oc, which would be a "good" CPU on the cheap side for on board graphics motherboard (AMD or Intel)? I want to pay as little as possible for cpu/mobo/ram but wish to get a decent pc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Look for an Intel 965G board plus a Core 2 Duo E6300. That's your best bet, in my opinion. You can get some cheaper boards than those, but you may get a wonky board or a board that won't fully support Core 2 Duo processors (example, there's a 945G board out there from ASRock that will only support the upcoming E4xxx Core 2 Duo processors, or so I'm told anyway).

Asus A8N-VM CSM, A64 3800+, and 1GB DDR400 (OCZ Premier)...total $289.97

Mobo has:
- NVIDIA GeForce 6150 + nForce 430
- Dual-channel DDR400
- PCI Express architecture
- Integrated GeForce6 GPU
- Dual VGA Ouput - DVI-D & RGB
- NVIDIA Gigabit LAN with NVIDIA ActiveArmor Firewall
- 4 x SATA II (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, RAID 5)
- 1394a Support
- High Definition Audio

$100 more for an X2 4400+ (dual core)

Asus P5B-VM, 1GB DDR2-533 (Mushkin Enhanced), C2D E6300 = $420.97
Motherboard has:
- Intel® GMA X3000, Intel® Clear Video Technology
- Dual-channel DDR2 800/667/533
- ESATA and IEEE 1394 Support
- Support SATA RAID 0, 1 and JBOD (by 1x External SATA & 1x Internal SATA)

One thing to keep in mind if you have any legacy devices...the 965G chipset only supports a single PATA connector...so if you have 2 HDD and a DVD (for example) that's PATA IDE, it won't work on these boards (max of 2). You'll need to buy SATA drives.

Maybe you are like me not to be that worried about not having the latest and greatest. If that is true there are free board deals with AMD CPUs on Newegg. I am still happy with my Biostar SFF baord and just ordered a AMD 3000 Venice core. Heck - it's even a socket 754 to boot.

My suggestion would be a socket AM2 Sempron. ****** has the 2800+ for $41 shipped. Pair that with a $50 Geforce6100 chipset board and some DDR2 RAM (can do dual channel) for a budget yet decent performing system with some upgrade potentials (dual core, PCI-E 16x).
