My rig:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
MSI Neo2 Plat socket 939
MSI 6600GT video card
Enermax 460W
Kingston DDR400 512MB x 2

Need opinion which cooling fan can fit into the MSI Mobo?
1. Thermaltake Venus 12?
2. Zalman CNP 7700 or 7000?
3. Other opinion..

Either of Thermalright's XP-series (90 or 120) might work with your board. Current kings of the air-cooled heatsink hill.

The XP 120 does not come with fan, any recommendation? Its quite expensive.

What abt the Cooler Master Hyper 6?

Yeah you need to by a 120mm fan for best performance. XP-90 needs a 92mm fan. Not familiar with the one you listed. Are you planning to overclock?

is it true that i can use DIMM 3 & 4 for dual channel? if that's the case, i can ignore the first DIMM slot that the Zalman almost touches.

Usually if there are 4 Dimm slots you have to use 1-3 or 2-4 for dual channel. They should usually be colored the same.

That's not true for the motherboard he's talking about. I've got this motherboard. With the neo2, the same colored slots are in the same channel.

You have to install the two DIMMs in slots 1 & 2 or 3 & 4 for dual channel.

Personally, I upgraded to the Thermalright XP-90 with a 92mm Vantec Stealth fan. It gives the best cooling at quietest level.
