I just put together my rig. When I turn the rig on, the CPU fan doesn't spin. I'm using a Zalman CNPS9500 on a Gigabyte GA-945P-S3. The LED lights, however.
HELP!

Same board - similar problem. At boot up, sometime the CPU fan would not be running. I found that the default bios calls for the bios to control the fan speed - Qfan I believe. And that a boot up, it would set the fan to the slowest and that was not enough power to even turn on my CPU fan. I turned Qfan off in the bios and all was well.

I'm worried that my CPU will fry. It's a PD 820! Besides, the screen doesn't turn on. Anything wrong with an X800GTO and a CRT?

Assuming you have already checked all connections & made sure the board isn't being shorted out anywhere, it sounds like either the motherboards BIOS isn't recognizing the cpu or your motherboard is defective.

Try going to Gigabyte's website & check to make sure the BIOS on your board is compatible with the cpu you have installed (BIOS version should be on a sticker on the ROM chip) ... if its not compatible, you'll need to take the board to a local PC shop & get the BIOS flashed, or contact Gigabyte & have them send you a pre-flashed chip.

If it is compatible then most likely the motherboard is defective & will need to be RMA'ed.
