CPU fan not working

Hypertheft

I recently purchased a Gigabyte GA-965G-DSM motherboard and a Big Typhoon Thermaltake heatsink, as well as a Core 2 Duo E6400 processor. The thing is, the cpu fan doesn't work when it's on the processor, but it works when it's not on the processor..I took everything else out of the case, as well..The cpu fan works only when it is plugged into the mobo by itself.

Any ideas? I can give more info if needed

Edit: And the computer doesn't post

Check to see if the wires to the fan are hung up somewhere. If not, depending on what it does when you turn the system on, try moving (jiggling) the wires when the system is turned on, see if it changes. That would indicate a broken wire, either in the insulation or at the connector, or a bad solder joint in the fan.

Good luck. 🙂
