CPU fan keeps stopping.. is this normal?

Temperatures? Usually thats not a normal thing. Is there dust lodged in teh motor, or perhaps the wiring is bad...

Hmm.. because it seems to do it with cool n quiet on, perhaps its trying to slow it down, and its too slow for it to go?

depends on your mobo, many mobo come with software like "hardware monitor"

Unfortunately im not very familiar with cool and quiet, so i dont know if it actually causes the fan to stop of your cpu is cold.

download wcpuid, tomshardware clock tester, and motherboard monitor 5, then tell us what it tells you. get prime95 and tell us what it is like at load as well as idle

Do a search in this forum.....
I remember being blown away when a user here posted some temp results and said his CPU fan WAS powering down runnin cool n quiet.

I see that you have an A64 and Asus mobo. With C'n'Q' and Asus' SmartFan this absolutely IS NORMAL since the cpu is only using 22W at idle. That's the same amount of power as a 350MHz P2 and can easily be passively cooled by the air flowing through the case. Just monitor the cpu temperature and the C'n'Q activity to make sure this is the case and not a fan malfunctioning.
