CPU fan header on mobo

I have an ABIT board and HSF with a Delta 80mm fan. The Delta has a 4-pin connector and I know you shouldn't plug this into the mobo header with any adapter. Are there any problems with not connecting anything to the CPU header on the mobo? Is there something I am to diasble in the BIOS so that I do not run into problems? Thanks! 😀

heh, well your computer might not boot. I dont know how yours is set up but my Abit wont boot unless it sees the a fan spin up off of the header. besides that. its safer to let your computer moniter the fan and if it dies then your computer will shut itself off saving you lots of money in hardware.

This is true, but I have read posts here long ago that talk about disabling the header or something. I would know if the Delta stopped working anyways just by the noise it puts out. 🙂 Any ideas on what to do? Thanks!

I have a kt-7 and a delta connected with the 4-pin adapter because if you look here2cooltekIan says that people have reported that the delta burned out their fan header( draws to much juice I guess).

It sounds like you just need to adjust the settings in your Via hardware monitor, under alarms make sure cpu fan low and system fan low are unchecked. I only say this because I,ve worked on alot of Abit mobo's and never had that problem. Let me know as I'm very curious.😕
