What CPU fan would provide adequate cooling for the 1.2 gig T-bird and also fit on this Motherboard. I have read alot of reviews stating that not all CPU fans will work on this Mobo unless heavily modified.

I just bought my KT7A Raid last week with a 1 Gig T-bird and a "silver orb" fan/heatsink. It's a very close fit indeed, however, it works very well. You need to understand how this things attaches before you start. Once you do it's no problem. The latch goes towards the power supply. If you install backwards, it will not be centrally located over the processor and if you force it you may break your processor. Even when installed the correct way locking down the latch is tricky - don't press on the heat sink - press down on the latch until it engages the clip.

I would go for the FOP32-1. Cheap and works well. But the clip is a little hard to put on, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

the globalwin clips are indeed a pain. I have used them and also the alpha (PAL 6035) and the alpha was much easier. The alpha performs very well.
Incidently, I had used a coolermaster DP5-6H11 with a duron. Its a cheap heatsink but I could easily push my duron 600 over 1000 with it. The temperatures were below 40.

I would not get a c-orb with a high-speed cpu. They are not capable of effectively dumping off CPU heat after the 1ghz barrier(see sig).

Any globalwin will work, as will the Alpha's or the Taisol CGK742... If you're willing to spend the money, the Hedgehog is also a solid choice.

Have a fop32-1 on my abit kt7 with a duron 600@805 and it handles that well but it aint no 1.2gigger :). There is always the fop38 the fop32 bigger much louder brother.

get youself an alpha

i believe the clip of fop is too stiff that you will crack your cpu core accidentally

It is a bit pricy, but the Hedgehog performs very well. It is very similar in design to the Alpha, and it uses the same clip as on the Alpha's. I just needed my finger to pop it on. It works well on my bird (check system)..good luck!

All you have to do is take the clip off the fop32 and bend it a couple times and it is a hell of a lot easier to put on.
