CPU Fan Error

I just built my first computer yesterday, and everything went suprisingly well. The only problem is that sometimes on startup I get a message saying "CPU Fan Error". This usually happens after my computer has been off for a little bit. I'm using an Asus K8N-E MB with an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (installed with the retail heatsink and fan.)

I started up the PC a few times with the case open to see what was going on with the fan. One time when I got the error message the fan had stopped and I shut my pc right away. Another time I got the message but the fan was still going.. How can I resolve this issue? Thanks

Sounds like you need a new fan. Perhaps the RPM sense is not working properly, or the fan is actually stopping intermittently.

Asus tech support is really crappy. I waited for 35 minutes to talk to tech support.then they asked for my number to return my call later...they never called back. that's BS
