Ok guys,

I have laptop HP 510 and justbought external HDD "MY BOOK Essential" from WD.
Now, whenever I connect trough USB externall HDD, fan on laptop goes in higher gear and (by everest) temp is getting from 55C to 69-70C.
I am now realynervous as dont wont to ruin my laptop, but also want to use my external HDD.

Can you advise what to do?

Thanks from newbie

seems odd that the use of a USB port would cause that.. Could be some sort of voltage regulation issue with the board... Check to see if you have the most current BIOS installed for that board....

I would also consider taking it apart, and reapplying some thermal past on the heatsink and cleaning the fins and fan....

First off all where did you get the temps from? Make sure in the bios. Plug the device in then reboot your pc go in the bios. Check the temps.

Then what AV do you have.

Then how old is your laptop. When did you last give it a good clean?
After youve done all the above and you still have problems Undervol your CPU

Heres a nice guide how to do it.

i used results from EVEREST Ultimate edition.
I also tried all those from notebookreview page.

I think my laptop is alive..
when i started to unscrew all those screws on back, I had trouble to loose few of them, I stopped and just put all together back.
Then I restarted laptop with external HDD already connected, started to use all different software at the same time (torrent, vlc player, copy pasting to external HHD) and the temp never went more then 50-57 C ????

He is still running and the fan is quiet, temp is ok, soooo, question is :
did I get HAL or am I just imagining?

p.s. I am still in process of removing backside and clean everything.
