When I'm not doing anything processor-intense, I run my cpu at low power mode using HMonitor. It cools the CPU about 30 degrees, and seems to be pretty stable, but it seems too good to be true. Are there any long-term hazards that would result from doing this? Oh, I'm running an Athlon Thunderbird 1.33 Ghz on an MSI K7 Master motherboard.

I can only think of two problems.

One would be socket creep, but as you undoubtedly have a ZIF socket and a big fat heatsink clamped on top, I guess it's not a problem at all.

Two would be physical stress on the die from such rapid heating/cooling. I don't know for sure though.
