just what socket is it and what type of hsf is that cus i need a replacement for an old computer

The page clearly says it's Socket 478. And the HSF looks like it's a stock 3-pin HSF, nothing special.

ANY HSF for a 478 socket will work

u guys sure about that? i was looking at my newr comp and it has like a case outside the cpu ish for the fans to snap in... if there isnt that thing, what then? ill give u a link to the mobo too.

um that's from an HP OEM desktop? If so they use a proprietary clip for the HSF which you can't buy in retail. Maybe try ebay.

Taped to the top of the Heatsink or taped to the top of the processor? I laugh at the mere thought of taping it to the CPU, but taping it to the heatsink would be similar to screwing it on with less grip. If I were you I'd just buy a new HSF.

neone know if you really need to get a hsf with those 2 clips, cus im thinkin about just buying like a zalman or something and just plop it up top
