Hey all...

I'm looking for anyone who as experience using the aria case from Antec.

I want to find a CPU cooler so that I can use the two extra HDD bays. The cooler I have now almost works, but the third HDD makes contact with the fan.

Has anyone found a cooler that will allow all the HDD bays to be used?

TIA

What cooler are you using? A lot of people have had some success with the Zalman 7000. It would also be helpful if you listed your cpu as some coolers only work with a P4/A64/A-XP.

It is a 2400+ Mobile.

I guess that is pretty important. I don't think the 3rd HDD bay would be useable with the Zalman.

I need something small that will adequately cool the 2400+ at stock speeds.

You've actually got quite a few choices, then. The main thing is that the cooler fits under the PSU. There is about 65mm of clearance under the PSU.

Take a look at the Thermalright AX-7 or the SLK700. Either of them is fairly small but both are pretty good coolers. The SLK700 (SK7) can work with the magnetic tip fan that is fairly small. You also might check out the Vantec Aeroflow or the THERMALTAKE TR2-M2 W/ TMD FAN. Another possibility is the Thermaltake silent boost. I think the boost is larger than the AX-7, though. I'd do some measuring and see how much clearance you need. I believe Newegg and SVC list the dimensions of heatsinks on their sites so that would be helpful.

I'm using the AX-7 now, and it doesn't allow the use of the 3rd HDD bay. I don't think the SLK700 will work either.

I will probably have to go with a 60mm fan design.

Since the mobile CPU runs at lower voltage, and much cooler than normal AMD's, (while still capable of running much higher voltage and temps), even a stock XP Athlon or Barton HSF will work fine, and fit fine. I only used the Zalman because I wanted to overclock the CPU much higher than stock.

Note that the 3 drives will increase temps inside the already overheated box.
That should be more of a concern to you than cooling the mobile AMD.
