cpu causing system to shut down after 3-4 sec...

ok... been having a ton of problems recently. realized it was a faulty psu and thought it might have fried the 2 cpu's i'd tried in the system. took both to a local shop and tested them in a system there... retail 2400+ was dead... the 2600+ oem i had been using posted fine.

however... now that i have it home... in my system when i power it on it doesn't post/boot/beep... the system sits there for 4 or 5 sec then just shuts off. this is using a new PSU of course.

just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what i could do to fix this? the old faulty psu had been used on this system... so i suppose it IS possible it could have killed something else in the system... BUT... i'm hoping that isn't the case...

here's my current set up...

Antec Solution 430w retail
2600+ CPU w/SLK800A + vantec thermal controlled 80mm fan
1x 512MB Twinmos Twister pc3700
DFI Lanparty Ultra B
HIS X800 Pro
Mitsumi CDRW
2x WD 40gb drives
1x WD 10gb drive
2x UV cc's
2x 80mm exhaust
1x80mm intake

any ideas would be appreciated

also... just for reference it did this with another motherboard, ram, video card... so i'm almost sure it has to be a cpu problem
