CPU booting at half FSB?

I just tried setting my XP2600+ (333) to 266 settings. ... IE: 16x 133

But

When I bootup .. the FSB is actually half ... 66.5 x 16

Whats up with that? I have the KX7-333 and the latest BIOS. (6b)

Both CPUID and SANDRA report 66.5.

This only happens on the 16 or 16.5.
(I didnt try to unlock 13-15.5 yet)

I realize my BIOS doesnt offer 13 thru 16.5 ... but I know that when unlocking the chip.... the 8 is swapped for the 16
So I actually have BIOS set to 8 ,,, but my multipler is actually 16. (reported by CPUID and Sandra)

The multiplier is correct ... so my unlock is ok right?

I know the MB isnt made for these chips. Just thought I'd give it a go.

I just dropped Abit an Email also.

I got a reply from Abit !

But,,

All they said was 'Please double check the CPU and make sure it is not a 333FSB CPU.'

So .. evidently the BIOS is only using the Chip defualts. If I bought the 266 version I guess I'd have access to the 16x multiplier.
(and probably only the 16x multiplier after 12.5x)

I guess I wont be able to see how far my new chip will go for awhile. Cuz, I'm real happy with my current FSB (189.4) and Im not satisfied with what I've been seeing in the current MB performances. (not a whole lot better than what I got already) My chip is over the top on Sandra... so .. I can wait.

Just thought I'd post this for anyone wondering whats up with the BIOS for KX7-333 reguarding the new XP2600 and up.

My next step is seeing if anyone craked the BIOS for my board. I know theres some people out there who can do this kinda BIOS modifications.
