CPU below 150$ that would not bottleneck G92

In the topic you say $150 and now you say $100?

Without looking at newegg prices, I'd say you're going to get bottlenecked by the CPU with that budget unless you OC.

My recommendation: get E21XX or E4500 and OC and you won't get bottlenecked. They usually OC enough with the stock HSF, but I'd recommend using 3rd party cooling.

How about spending 50$ less on the mobo ? Get a gigabyte ds3l or a bit ip35-e for 100$. That way you can easily get a e6750 which won't bottleneck a 8800gt or 8800gts 512mb. If you're into overclocking, then you might as well buy a e4300 or perhaps even a e2140 and OC it to 2.5-3ghz, which won't bottleneck a 8800gt or 8800gts either.

A good 'cooling device' or HSF, will cost you 20-45$. That's $20 for a Arctic freezer 7 pro, which will allow decent overclocks, near 3ghz, or $45 for a tuniq tower which is a top of the line HSF, which will allow overclocks of 3.2-3.6ghz, IF you can get that high of course >>

Got some question what is the difference between quad-core and core 2 quad?
Is q6600 core 2 quad or quad-core?

didn't not want to shell out 190$ for CPU alone if it becomes useless in a year.

I highly doubt the e6750 will be useless in a year. It will probably be good for 2 years at the least.

Don't get the OpenBox DS3L you listed....go for New on a mobo...it's not worth the gamble when new is usually only 10 bucks more. The e6550 is also a good choice, and the G0 steppings can go up to 3.0 on stock voltage / stock cooling pretty easily (which would be plenty for your VCard) and they're a little closer to your budget.

core 2 quad is core 2 duo times two...literally. it is quad core.

Agreed 100%. Unless you want to spend $1000 for the fastest CPU you'll have to do some overclocking. Most reviews and users agree a C2D/C2Q at @3GHz is where you want to be with a G80/G92.

Both the CPUs above are great choices although I think you can even score some of the lower end E6XXXs for $150 or less now. Ideally though you'd still go for a $100-110 CPU and spend the extra $40-50 for a nice HSF.
