hey guys,

I just finished building my computer today. Everything was fine except for one thing. My temps are way too high. My motherboard temps are fine, but cpu is at 64.5c. I have a t-bird 1.33 with a thermaltake volcano 2 heatsink. I think the heatsink is what the problem is, but I want to know how I can lower my temperature. Please help me especially does who have the same thing as me. Thanks!
Also when the temps reaches at 70c then my motherboard starts making this long beeping noise and I need to shut down my computer. So I need to find out how to lower it.

Hey,

what motherboard are you using?

What is your room temp?

What is your case cooling like?

The way I see it (and was told) if it's stable at that temp then it really doesn't matter. IF you were to take 10 boards from the same manufacturer and under the same test conditions, test each board with the same chip and setup, you will see that the temps WILL NOT match. Why is this? Because there is NO on die thermistor. There is no way to get an accurate measurement of actual temps. If the HSF isn't that hot to the touch, then I'd say you can live with it.

BTW: if you notice your case is vibrating, it's not because it's happy to see you but it's the crappy fan they have on it. I'm all for the volcano 2, but the fan needs to be swapped. MAybe with a Sunon or something. You'll also see temps drop slightly.

I think people will be shocked when they get the palomino and see that diff between MB and CPU temps are about 30C of something. hahaha

Sounds to me like your HSF is not sitting square on the CPU, take it off and check if you have a good pattern in the thermal paste.
Stable doesn't really matter , those temps are too high for my liking.

jcvkang, did you remove the little plastic strip from underneath the heatsink?

I have Thermaltake Volcano 2 on my 1.2@1.4Ghz.

At idle, it's usually around 38c on full load it goes up to 46c.

It seems to be fine, maybe it's the case or the heatsink isn't on properly..
We almost have the same setup.
