cpu and thermal compound

i have a slight difficulty. i recently put in a cpu but a little bit of thermal grease got on the underside of the processor. is there any way to counter this

No issue. If you get the grease on the pins or contact patches, then remove it with isopropyl alcohol.

Whatever you do, DO NOT IGNORE IT AND PLACE THE CPU IN AND TURN ON THE COMPUTER LIKE NORMAL. The last guy on this forum that did that got screwed big time. *cough cough* Damn smoke... *cough cough*
