CPU and MOBO Temperature questions

I'm running a Athlon TBird 900 MHz/ASUS A7V with Taisol CGK742092 HSF.
ASUS Probe shows my temps to be 49C/120/F for the CPU and 30C/86F for the Mobo. Are these good temperatures? I'm not currently running Quake or anything. Just been on the net for a few hours. Thanks

They seem a little warm, but those temperatures are normal.

looks pretty warm to me, what's the voltage ? low to mid 40's would be ok but 49 just surfin is a bit much, that's 19 degrees over the mob temp. are you using the pad that came on the HSF or some thermal grease? may want to check the fit of the HSF.

VCore is 1.824. Yes, I'm using the thermal pad that came with the HSF. I've got an ANTEC 830 case with 4 fans (2 intake and 2 exhaust). Still 49C. Hasn't changed.

I don't know how hot it is where you live but a 30C sys-temp sounds a bit hot for something with 4 fans. You might want to look where it's placed, make sure there is enough room around outside of the case for adaquete airflow.

your HSF should be able to handle the voltage fine, they are pretty good units, thats why AMD uses them. check your airflow like Evan said, but sounds like the HS isn't making good contact with the cpu.
I know it's a pain to remove and reinstall but if nothing else helps you may have to do it. remove the mobo from the case with the HSF still mounted and hold it up to a good light and look for any light coming thru between the HS and cpu. you should see no light where the cpu core is.

I have a similar question. One of my Friends T-bird 700's that I built is showing me a temp of 109 F in the BIOS. Is this high for t-bird that has been stting there doing nothing. I mean, when I first put it together, it was at 104, this is as soon as I turned it on. I have a theory about what's going on. The HSF came with some thermal compound on the bottom, which they said would be enough (and I stupidly beleived them, I used to smearing the stuff on!!) but my thinking is that if there is not enough goo in between the HSF and CPU, then the temps will be higher. I'm wondering if heading to my local Radio Shack and picking up some thermal compound will get this temp down. Thanks...

Wait...

Before you pull off the heatsink, what BIOS are you using for hte A7V? Is it an A7V Bios 1004 or later, and a Revision 1.02 board?

If so, your temps are fine. A7V's tend to "read" higher temps than other mb's.

BIOS Revision 1004. I don't know which version (a,b,c,d, etc.). How can I find out? What's also funny is that ASUS Probe is showing that my Case Fan and Power Supply Fan is running at 2000 rpm. I opened the case up and all the fans are working fine. I have 4 case fans and one power supply fan. But I don't think that they are being monitored. Are these two monitoring activities useless then?

I'll run Quake or maybe Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (my son loves this) for a while and see what the temps are when I get home this evening.
