CPU and Mobo Suggestions

Beags

Hi all, i was wondering if i could grab some advice on what mobo and cpu to buy. I currently have a AMD Athlon XP 1700+ and a MSI 745 Ultra. Not to good. I have around 350 bux to spend on new mobo and cpu and was thinking intel. Technology these days makes it harder for m to knwo what cpu goes with with mobo in terms of sockets and difference. the mobo has to have agp8x and hopin the cpu is 2.8ghz or above. Thnx for any advice 😉

depends entirely what it is to be used for.....number crunching and multitasking....go with intel... if gaming ar anything else go with AMD for bang for buck heaven!

soz i tried to edit but didnt work :

but i have found 2 possible solutions, AMD Athlon64 3200+ and Abit AV8 Socket 939, VIA K8T800 Pro.... Remembering that im australian, and my $350US budget is roughly $450AUS, and the products are AMD=$306AUS ($239US) and ABIT=$182AUS ($142US), which kinda goes over my budget. But i can live witht that. Any more suggestions, amd what do you think of this?

So, what type of memory do you guys recomend? Should i go socket 754 or 939, and ill need to wait another week to get RAm cos im over $$

Corsair, Crucial, OCZ, or Mushkin. I haven't heard a lot about Buffalo though.

RAM isn't too expensive. 1gb of Corsair Value Select = 150 bucks.
