CPU and Chassis Fans shut off, HELP

I have a ASUS CUSL2 motherboard and I have the ASUS probe installed and running to monitor the temperatiure. After about 1 hour, both the chassis and cpu fan simply shut off. I don't know whats happening. Naturally then, the motherboard and cpu skyrocket in temperature. My computer then begins to lag and crash perdiodically. Anyone, have any idea what is going on? I am running a PIII 700 @ 700 cuz I already have a heat problem and don't want to bring on any additional heat by overclocking.

Do you have cpu fan off in suspend enabled in the bios. Also make sure the asus probe isn't turning off the fan at a certain temperature.
