CPU all over the map.

I noticed when watching HD video, the frequency of my processor will spike to like 6000-9000 Mhz for like 2-3 seconds.

It's a E5400 2.7GHz Overclocked to 3.5GHz.

wow.. 9ghz! isnt that new record?

I'll play naive about what's going on with that, because --frankly -- I haven't a clue.

But when I'm playing HD and/or (and/or) recording HD, it never loads the processor more than around 8 to 10% maximum. Other times, as low as 1%.

So I haven't a clue about this . . . . I'm only saying . . . . HD playback shouldn't put a dent in an EIST-enabled system's low-end speed . . .

That is good 3.5ghz OC on a stock cooler. Keep it pushing. It is a great overclocker.

If you do mind the 1 or 2 db increase in noise, take a look at your stock fan on the cooler, and you will see a thermistor chip on there. Break it off for even better temps. Intel fans, which are supplied by Delta are very decent fans with great pressure pushing the air.

OP, are you sure its MHz and not GHz? 9000GHz CPU sounds more realistic. I had that in my old file server.

I was using the Easytune 6 which shows the live clock speed.

It would jump from 3200 MHz to like 4500, then it would go back down to like 2000, then spike to 9000 for like a split second.

Try using cpu-z to read your cpu speeds, whatever your using is without a doubt spitting out inaccurate numbers, no processor runs at 9.0Ghz. (Well no desktop X86 processor, before someone has a chance to correct me and show me something that does. lol)
