Official haswell ram voltage is max 1.5v, but you can go higher if the mainboard allows it. As far as the ram frequency is concerned, I don't think that there is a limit, the memory itself maybe. But ram frequency is pretty pointless anyways since you cannot oc the non k 4770.

If you plan on purchasing the 4770, any 1333/1600 modules rated at 1.5v should work out of the box. Higher frequency modules may get downclocked by the BIOS at 1333 or 1600, but you should be able to manually adjust them from the BIOS at their marketed speeds.I don't think that paying a price premium for higher than 1600 is worth it if you plan on using them with a 4770.

The default max is 1600 afaik, going higher is overclocking, so you probably need a K cpu and a Z board, not sure though.

Anyway, if you don't overclock there's no real point in running over 1600 memory anyway, so I wouldn't spend too much time researching it.

If you're considering buying RAM, you need to think about if you even need RAM that fast first.

talking of RAM on a 4770K, whats the fastest way on a Z board to use 1866Mhz at it's full potentital without actually OCing the cpu ?

yes i know, but what i meant is, how do you set it up to 1866mhz the easiest way to do it is?

cos if we just plug them in, they will run at 1333 or 1600...

Depends. XMP profile if your memory supports it. Else set the speed yourself in BIOS.
