I want to upgrade this Win2k machine to WinXP via fresh install, but I am getting some errors.
First, when I tried to load WinXP Pro SP2 onto this machine, as I was deleting one of the partitions, it gave me a blue screen errror, and then mentioned the file, "cpqarray.sys", even though this is a custom build with an Asus board, and not a Compaq.
In the blue screen message, it suggested updating the BIOS. So, I figured that this BIOS was not compatible with SP2, like some other boards I have dealt with.
It is an ASUS A7V8X-MX SE, and I went to it's download page and downloaded the latest version of its BIOS (1006; currently the board has 1002) and the flash utility for this board (aflash.exe).
I unzipped the flash utility and the new BIOS, and put it onto a freshly formatted start up floppy. When I typed in "awflash" per Asus's instructions, it gave me the error message, "ERROR! Can't Find System BIOS' Hook."
What's the deal?
