CPE (Compulsive Post Editor) roll call

It started so simply, so innocently... "teh". A minor typo which, thanks to wonderful forum software, was easily correctable... so tempting...

It controls my life now. Typos aside, there's always a better way to say something, and with editing impunity I can't stop myself. Adding examples is another excuse I use. Please... tell me I'm not alone 🙁

I judge the intelligence of posters by the content of their posts as well as their grammar and spelling. There's not much else to go on. It's usually sufficient to avoid arguing with idiots. Then again, in the .999...=1 thread, I did spend quite a bit of time doing just that.

if i notice a minor spelling mistake, I'll let it go, but anything worse I'll fix.

Yes. I have to do this also. But ever since I started typing papers for school in Word, my spelling sucks. 🙁
