I see myself augering this sucker into the ground on its first flight.

That design is actually very easy to fly. I sell those at my store and have flown them. Even somebody with no experience can fly them. And they are easy to repair. I recommend them to anybody who has ever wanted a simple, easy to fly R/C plane.
