I still use my school email account for checking and smtp.east.cox.net for outgoing. Up until today, that is. Anyone else get an error that "relaying to mail.xyz.edu is not allowed'?
 
I think when using Cox, you need to use Cox smtp server for all outgoing accounts...just authenticate with your log on for your schools email. Thats how it was when I had them..It should be in their FAQ/Help.
 
Cox won't let you relay to any mail server other than theirs. Its always been the case. If you are relaying to Cox's mail servers, then the school's email server is rejecting Cox's email server.
 
My cox email stopped working shortly after i registered it, said it never could connect to smtp.cox.net or something like that (was using the correct addy). I have no probably receiving email from other accounts so i just stopped putting up with C-O-X.
