Cox Communications SUCKS!!! (With Poll)

Got this letter from them in the mail today:

Cox Communications is pleased to launch our exciting new service, High Defination Service. Because of this, the following channel changes will take effect beginning November 5, 2003:
In Demand PPV 1: Available only on Digital Cable (no longer offered on Expanded Basic)
In Demand PPV 2: Available only on Digital Cable (no longer offered on Expanded Basic)
Speed Network: Available only on Digital Cable (no longer offered on Expanded Basic)

So in a nutshell, they are saying F.U. to their Expanded Basic customers who would like to order a PPV movie or special, but don't want to subscribe to Digital Cable. They have about 100 PPV channels on Digital Cable showing the same 8 movies, just at different times. Now, they are forcing anyone who wants to order a PPV movie/special to upgrade to Digital Cable, hence, more money in their greedy pockets. Why are cable companies allowed to monoploize a geographic area? Whatever happened to competition. If I was able to, I'd be a Comcast customer as they are available in the next town over, less than a 1/4 mile away. I was a previous Digital Cable customer, but dropped it when I was wasn't watching any of the worthless digital channels offered in their lineup. I really think it's time to seriously look at DirectTV.

yeah, cox implemented this on me 2 years ago. i felt exactly like you did, but havent done a damn thing about it yet, but im considering the directv route also.

Cox is TERRIBLE. It took them 3 years to give us a cable ISP here that didn't drop packets like mad at 4pm. After it leveled out, they capped us at 1Mbps down, 128kbps up. One city over, and it's 2.5Mpbs down, 256 up. C'mon. I still don't have access to HDTV, and the prices are still outrageous.

I like Cox this year, my apartment complex pays for expanded basic, and they somehow forgot to charge me for internet access...oh well 🙂
