I suppose they could throttle NNTP traffic but I'd doubt it. I know charter does throttle their news servers but I find it unlikely they could, or at least would, limit another service via port or protocol.

Ya my fiencee has Cox and I have Charter. I pay for a newsgroup service. According to a tech at Cox she should only get 1.5 Mbits to any newsgroup service paid or not. Which didn't make sense to me because a couple of my friends have Cox as well and get full speed. At least they used to I haven't asked them recently.

Well I wouldn't put alot of stock in what a cable tech tells you. Unfortunate condemnation of an entire class of people when I am sure there are some that know what they are talking about. However based on my limited experience with tech support with a cable company as your ISP, they don't. I haven't talked to someone with a clue yet anyway. Though I don't really call for tech support. More to just check down nodes, change the MAC on a newly purchased cable modem etc.. Short story is take what they tell you with a grain of salt.

Oh it wasnt one of the idiots that you call when you want them to read you a script. LOL Its was a knowledgeable tech that posts on DSLReports.com. He wasn't sure though which is why I wanted to see if anyone else on Cox had any experience with newgroups & Cox.
