Coworkers Give Less Then Food Costs

I usually go pick up the food for the whole office. When we order chinese the special combination is $5 bucks, but theres 30 cents tax. When I pick up food for like 4 people thats 1.20 unpaid 5 days a week is $6 bucks.

It it petty to be pissed off about this $6 bucks a week?

That's $300 bucks a year!!!

Also, I'm the lowest paid person in the office, and it pisses me off the they expect me to foot the tax just because the menu says 5 bucks. I think I'm just gonna pick up my own food from now on and say fsck everyone else. Or I may just bring my own food in so they dont expect me to pick up the food.

Charge them tax. If they don't like it, tell them that you're sorry that you can't pick their food up for them anymore.

1. dont pick up the food.
2. let someone else pick up the food.
3. order food and only give $5
4. Profit!

The only good way to do it is to take turns buying for everyone. One person buys for all one day and another the day after etc.

1) Tell them it's $6, profit. Round up. Your gas, your time, their cost.
or
2) Make them get paypal to send you exact change.

That's what we do....

leave with their money then come back when they are hungry and hand them their five back. "Sorry we didn't meet our goal of $31.20"

Just tell them that $5 doesn't cover the tax. If they don't cough up the extra, just quit picking up the food. Either start bringing your lunch, be so "busy" that you can't stop what you're doing right then, or outright say you've been making the lunch run for quite a while and it's someone else's turn.

I tell people to fork up the extra and I'm keeping the change as a delivery fee, they don't like it they can get their own.

Many people are just cheap. You are beginning to realize that.

The funny thing is when they give me over... say a $10, I give them there exact change. So they know there's tax. They're conspiring against me!!!! It's a pain in the ass though, cuz they'll be like well I don't have a $1 or I don't have change. I just think when I go I'm only going to pick up my own food, and just go... this has been pissing me off for quite a while.

I'm also looking for a new job. I really need to find a new job, quickly.

If I have someone pick up lunch for me, I round up to the next dollar after tax and don't expect anything back.

On the other hand, I know people who would probably count the change if I brought them food back.

yip us too. who ever does the food run (not very often we do food runs) there is a unwritten understanding that the runner will make a buck or two profit to pay for gas and time and for being nice enough to make the food run.

if that doesnt work and you are still the runner i suggest you get a receipt for each order and plop it down on desk of the person who ordered the food and not give them their food until they are paid in full.

Bring your own food is the best option.
